This Privacy Policy explains how WayPlan ("WayPlan," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the WayPlan mobile application (the "App"). WayPlan is operated by its developer, based in California, United States.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who We Are

WayPlan is a travel discovery application that helps you find curated places, plan trips, rate places you visit, and keep a personal travel journal. You can contact us at the email address provided in the Contact Us section below.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

• Anonymous account. When you first open the App, we create an anonymous account for you so your data can be saved and synced. This does not require you to provide a name, email, or password.
• Optional profile information. You may choose to add a display name and email address to your profile. This is optional and not required to use the App.
• Profile photos. You may optionally upload a profile photo.
• Journal content and photos. You may write journal entries and upload photos associated with places you visit. This content is private to your account unless you choose to share it.
• Ratings, trips, and lists. Places you rate, itineraries you build, bucket lists you create, and similar content you generate within the App.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Technical data. Basic technical information necessary to operate the App, such as your anonymous account identifier and timestamps associated with your content.

2.3 Analytics information

We use PostHog, a third-party product analytics service, to understand how the App's features are used so we can improve them. PostHog collects information about your interactions with the App, such as which cities and places are viewed, when ratings are submitted, when journal entries are created or edited, and similar feature-usage events.

Analytics events contain only anonymous identifiers and app-internal identifiers — for example, place IDs, city IDs, and rating categories. Analytics events do not include your name, email address, journal entry text, photos, or any other personal content you create in the App.

As part of standard event processing, PostHog may also derive an approximate location (such as city or country) from your IP address. This is an approximation based on network information and is not a precise device location. The App does not request or access your device's location services.
